According to an article today on MSN J.K. Rowling will be publishing a new book entitled The Tales of Beedle the Bard, but here’s the kicker, there will only be 7 copies published. One copy will be going up for auction next month and the others have already been given away as gifts.

The Takes of Beedle the Bard is a collection of fairy tales which is mentioned in Rowling’s 7th book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The book is the Wizarding World’s equivalent to Grimm’s Fairy Tales. Hermione Granger was bequeathed a copy by Albus Dumbledore.

Rowling’s book was not only written by her (obviously) but also hand illustrated solely by her as well, which obviously ups the value.

As a fan of the series, I can’t help but to feel slighted. There is a wealth of stories there that have been dangled in front of the fans, but only Rowling, her family and friends, and the lucky mega-rich bidder (because you know that book is going to easily cost the bidder a couple thousand dollars), will ever get to see them.
