Julie,

Yes, the magic was definately missing. I think I would have enjoyed the story much more if it didn't have a sense of being slapped together and forced into the mold of "happily ever after".

Not to mention, my inner-feminist wasn't too pleased with the message that this book seems to be sending out to young women. Get a man, get hitched, and have a baby and you're set for life. We've really got enough teen pregnancies and children raising children as it is.

Frankly, I think Meyer tried a little too hard to make everyone happy in this book, and really, that's what kills it. Not everything is "happily ever after". Making sacrifices is a fact of life. Bella got everything, sacrificed nothing, and all is peachy. That just does not fly for me.

I'm with you on the magic not being fully there like in the first books. But, it was an ending, and she gave the readers what they wanted: a happy ending for all. But yea, the happy feeling wore off all too quickly. Almost left me feeling a little empty. Maybe it was due to the fact that this story was finally over. Or maybe it was that the story left something missing.
