It’s the beginning of a new month and with the dawning of this October 1st comes a few changes around the blog and a few things to look forward to as well.
As you may (or may not) be aware October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. I’d like to take a few minutes to bring to your attention a couple of campaigns I like to participate in annually. In order to help promote awareness I will be participating in the Pink for October campaign. This campaign is not all about raising funds, although that is definately a bonus as well, but is more focused on raising awareness and drawing attention to the cause. Webmasters are encouraged to “Go Pink” for October. You can do this by simply placing a small button, banner, or badge on your site, like the one to your left. You can also choose to do something simple as change the font color of your blog or even create an all pink layout. Whatever you choose, the point is to go pink!
Last year I created a pink theme for my personal blog and I will be placing it up again this year as well, however, I neglected to go pink on T.S. for some reason. That won’t be happening again, I can assure you of that! I would like to make a pink version of this theme, but I might have to go the minimalist route in lieu of time constraints.
Another event I support is the annual Boobie-Thon. In the past, the event has raised over $40,000.00 for Breast Cancer Research since they first began several years ago. The event will begin on October 1, 2008 (today) and will run until 11:59 pm on October 7, 2008. As usual, the first $359.00 raised from donations will go to the Bloggers Helping Bloggers portion of the event. The rest of the money earned through donations, and all of the money earned through the shop, will be donated to Komen.

And of course, October is also host to the most wonderful holiday of all – Halloween! As many are aware, I’m sure, Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year. I love the changing of the season, warm days and cool nights, leaves blowing on the ground, barren branches reaching to the sky like skeletal fingers. Hot cider, candy, and other yummy treats are wonderful bonuses!
So in celebration of this wonderful holiday I am offering up a slew of book reviews from the following genres and sub-genres all month long:
- Gothic
- Horror
- Paranormal Romance
- Fantasy
- Dark Fantasy
- Urban Fantasy
- Thriller
- Psychological Thriller
- Sci-Fi
Readers beware! If it contains creatures that go bump in the night, creatures who would eat you on sight, turn you into a toad; the dead rising to walk amongst us; or it just plain gives you thrills and chills, you can expect to see a review for it during this month.
I wanted to post a review a day, but it’s more likely to be every couple of days or so. Either way, you’ll definately be seeing more magic, monsters, and murders this month than ever before! And, more than likely, more reviews in a single month than ever before as well.
And don’t forget, the first week of October is Buy A Friend A Book week as well.
Promote reading and friendship by buying a book for a friend out of the blue! Isn’t October just a wonderful month?

Ooooh, I can’t wait to see your Halloween reviews! I’m having some Halloween fun over at Breeni Books, as well!
Breeni,
Then I shall be watching your blog even closer than before! lol I’m considering doing a giveaway or something as well, but I’ll probably do it closer to Halloween.
I just love the new pink layout! Very pretty.
I’ll have to keep my eye on your reviews this month. I’ve noticed with the every growing trend of vampire/paranormal books more and more authors are publishing because they can when, quiet honestly, they shouldn’t. It would be nice to see if this is just my perception or not.
Happy reading,
Amber
Amber,
Thank you! I’m glad the theme came out looking decent. Truly I was afraid I was going to screw something up.
Unfortunately you’re not alone in that thought.
There have been a plethora of Paranormal and Urban fantasy books hitting the book shelves that should never have even passed an editor’s desk. But there are some gems out there still.
